Fest'n in the Rain!

We begin our recap with the Celebrity Martini Bar Maid! Amber was kind enough to serve Champagne and Pink Martinis at the Ingrim Street Festival on Saturday. A typical weekend in Heidelberg - First barricade the street, lay the lawn, gather your army, pump up the volume and prepare for anarchy.

Apparently, all the preparation in the world can't control the weather. Our 'sunny' fest commenced with rain. Things looked rather grim until it cleared up and we were able to get on with it. In the meantime we moved a little jam session into the Gallery to accompany Lilly Piri's opening.

What would a Street Festival be without an Art opening! We are proud to present Lilly's most recent work 'Wunderkammer' (The Chamber of Miracles). The show was very well received, and we thank all who attended & purchased!

Who's Pooh?

Claudi, Claudi, Claudi!
Our MVP award goes to.......? Miss Ritter, the owner of Orange (our second home).

Orange was the heart of our Festival, probably because they had the BEER! Every time a tourist asks me where they can find a 'non-touristy' cafe, I send them here. There is nothing like it in Heidelberg. In fact, it is almost impossible to get away from Tourism in the old city. Orange is a haven for people looking for authenticity, good music & a place to smoke after 10!

Here's the other half of Orange (Usama) with his beautiful niece. Usama made a gorgeous Pumpkin soup for the Fest, for those who did not prefer to start drinking at noon!

Here's our very own 'Heidelberg' photographer Barbara Hohenadl. She has published two fantastic books of portraits and landscapes of our lovely city, and was kind enough to open her studio for viewing during the Festival. She also worked her butt off organizing for the day.

This is Sabine Speckamp's Antiquariat Goethe & Co. Sabine hosted a reading in her shop which has gotten wild reviews! Her space is just beautiful, exactly what you would call the epitome of European charm. In addition to her collection of books available in international languages, she also has a selection of antiques. My favorites at the moment are old cake molds, amazing vintage cameras and anatomy posters from the 40's and 50's.

This shop wins the award for window decor. Rosemarie of Antiquariat Stange has one of the most Romantic locations on the Ingrimstrasse. Many of the unusual objects on offer here include; glasses from the 20's and 30's (my Favs), drawings, paitings, photography, beautiful books and furniture to die for. A perfect escape for a winters day.

Here is the darling couple! After long hours of pre-exhibition hell, Lilly appeared in perfect form ready to enjoy her solo show. WoooHooo! And a beautiful job she did! Stay tuned for the up close and personal recap of Wunderkammer.
